Blue Zone Parking Geneva

Free 1-2 hour street parking using a parking disc. No payment needed - just set your arrival time and display the disc.

What Is the Blue Zone?

The blue zone (zone bleue) is Geneva's system of free, time-limited street parking. Blue zone spaces are marked with blue lines on the road surface or blue P signs with a clock symbol.

To park in a blue zone, you need a parking disc (disque de stationnement). Set the disc to the next half-hour after your arrival and display it clearly on your dashboard.

Maximum stay is typically 1 hour on weekdays and 2 hours on Saturdays. Parking is free on Sundays and public holidays in blue zones.

Where to Get a Parking Disc

Parking discs are available for free at petrol stations, post offices, police stations, and many shops. Once obtained, your disc can be reused indefinitely.

Enforcement Hours

Blue zone rules are enforced Monday to Friday (08:00-19:00) and Saturday (08:00-18:00). Outside these hours, blue zone parking is usually free and unlimited.

Fines for Blue Zone Violations

Parking without a disc or exceeding the time limit results in a CHF 40 fine. Repeat offenders may face higher fines. Enforcement is regular, especially in popular areas.

Blue Zone Near Old Town

There are blue zone spaces near the Old Town (Vieille Ville) but they are limited. Arrive early in the morning for the best chance of finding a space without queuing.

Staying Longer?

For full-day parking, use a P+R lot from CHF 3/day or an underground garage.
